pence是penny的复数，在北美，1penny = 1美分。美分是货币的最小单位了，没有比美分更小的了。钱的数额是以多少多少美分算的，比如说100美元就是10000美分，任何面额都可以最终以美分来表示，但是永远不可能出现0.1美分0.3美分之类的。。。所以从这个角度来说cash amount is a discrete number.

这里总数相当大，比如说以万为单位，那就是1000000美分。在这种数值大小，多1penny少1penny有差别么？？理论上有，但是可以忽略了，所以这时候就是continuous了。
